Vincent Calogero and Sarah Nilson have been arrested on grounds of child endangerment, child neglect, and being under the influence of a controlled substance after officers claim they attempted to swap their kids for cash and drugs.

Police have not elaborated on how they managed to catch Calogero or Nilson but said in an official statement: “Lancaster Station Detectives would like to commend the residents of Lancaster who intervened in response to the danger the children were in and contacted law enforcement. We remind the public if you see something suspicious, say something!”

Two brothers, who police determined Calogero and Nilson were the parents of, have since been placed into the custody of the Department of Family Services as officials continue the investigation into the incident.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies were able to apprehend both Calogero and Nilson after responding to a possible child abuse call. They are both being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Authorities have asked for anyone with more information on the couple and the possible abuse of their two sons to contact them at 661-948-8466.
