For many years there has been hushed chatter about secret rings of pedophiles operating in Hollywood and targeting fresh-faced child actors. For the most part, these rumors and speculations have been contained to tabloid headlines and, by extension, included in various conspiracy theories surrounding Hollywood. These stories were often regarded as washed up has-beens looking to turn a quick buck or simply isolated incidents, but as more former child actors step forward and add credence to these bizarre claims, it’s hard to deny that there is something very strange going on in Tinsel Town.

Throughout the 1980s, it was hard to come by a blockbuster film that didn’t star at least one of the two Coreys. Originally meeting on the set of The Lost Boys at just 14-years-old, Corey Haim and Corey Feldman felt an instant kinship. The pair shared the same name, loved to party and, when Haim finally confided in Feldman on the set of the film Lucus, they learned that they had both shared a dark secret.

Haim had told Feldman that he was convinced by an older man that it was common for young boys in the industry to have sexual relations with older members of the community. Like many young actors, Haim knew that refusal to go along with the intentions of these powerful men could mean career suicide, and so he reluctantly followed the much older man between trailers on set where the man sodomized him.

As later revealed in Feldman’s autobiography Coreyography, Feldman had also fallen victim to some of Hollywood’s pariahs. With neither of the boys having a stable home life, Feldman says he and Haim spent most of their time partying with Hollywood A-listers and living with their abusers, who also had worked with other child actors behind the scenes as agents and publicists.

If it’s any testament to the turmoil Feldman’s life was in, one of the few stable influences he had to rely on was Michael Jackson. Though Jackson and Feldman had a falling out years later when Jackson heard rumors that Feldman was going to tarnish his name in a tell-all book, Feldman says Jackson was one of the few adults in his life who hadn’t been molesting him and nothing inappropriate between them had ever occurred.

Corey Haim succumbed to his long-time struggle with drug addiction in 2010, but two confidants of the former heartthrob claim that prior to Haim’s death he revealed the name of one of his molesters. According to some sources, who say they have spoken with these trusted confidants of Haim’s, this man has children of his own and is a big-wig in Hollywood. This bombshell has led to a lot of conjecture within the celebrity gossip world within recent months.

Due to California’s statute of limitations, if Haim, Feldman or other child actors were to come forward and name names they could find themselves in legal trouble. Aside from the legal trouble they could face today, taking on these powerful men back then would have meant the end of their careers. It is these real fears that keep child actors who have been victimized from telling their stories.

The Coreys aren’t the only former child actors claiming that there are groups of men who pass around young boys at the industry parties in Hollywood. Elijah Wood, best known for his role as Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings series, has told sources that while he was shielded from the parties and other industry gatherings these child stars are groomed at by their much older handlers, it’s no secret that there are many vultures in Hollywood looking to prey upon the young and naive.

Wood further went on to tell The Sunday Times:

“There is darkness in the underbelly. If you can imagine it, it’s probably happened.”

Todd Bridges, known for his role of “Willis” on the sitcom Diff’rent Strokes, also revealed that he had been the victim of molestation at the hands of his much older publicist and mentor. The man, who he calls “Ronald,” showered Bridges with lavish gifts and trips. One day the pair were in a car together when Ronald pulled down Bridges’ pants and began to perform oral sex on the young actor.

Bridges says he felt a lot of anger and confusion over the incident. His mother, who had also been molested as a child, noticed the changes in Bridges’ behavior. When she witnessed Bridges attack Ronald she understood immediately what had occurred and why he was lashing out at him. She chased Ronald out of her home with a knife and then told Bridges’ father, who refused to believe that Todd had been molested.

Some of these men have been convicted within recent years, including Jeepers Creepers director Victor Salva. After his parole in 1992 for molesting a young actor on the set of his film Clownhouse, Salva went right back to directing, even being picked up by Disney to direct their movie Powder.

Two other famous industry names, as revealed in the documentary An Open Secret, include talent manager Martin Weiss and actor and dialog coach Brian Peck. Both have been convicted of charges related to sex offenses involving minors and both continue to work within the industry.

What was once considered widely to be a conspiracy is now known to be a harsh reality and these stories are just the tip of the iceberg. With so few children willing to risk their careers by coming forward and with very little repercussions against the perpetrators of these heinous crimes, it would seem that Hollywood is a revolving door for predators to have access to some of society’s most vulnerable people.
