In 2012, Jerry Sandusky, a former assistant coach at Penn State, had been convicted of multiple charges related to the sexual abuse of children. For some, Sandusky’s trial and conviction closed the door on decades of inappropriate contact with kids. For others, including Sandusky’s adopted son Jeffrey, their pain from the years of abuse at the hands of Sandusky culminated in them becoming abusers themselves and carrying on Sandusky’s repugnant legacy.
After Sandusky was sentenced to spend at least 30 years behind bars, Matthew Sandusky – one of Sandusky’s six adopted children – decided to go public with his allegations against his father. Appearing on Oprah in 2014, Matthew told the shocking tale of growing up in the Sandusky household. These allegations were later denied by Sandusky’s other adopted children and Sandusky’s wife Dottie.
Among one of Sandusky’s staunchest supporters had been his son, Jeffrey, who attended most of Sandusky’s hearings and insisted that there was never any indication that his own father may have been sexually abusing children. Now, it would seem that Jeffrey Sandusky had a few secrets of his own.
On February 13, 2017, Jeffrey Sandusky was charged with 14 counts related to statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, child pornography, sexual abuse of children, and the corruption of minors.
The investigation began in March of 2016 after a minor claimed that the younger Sandusky had been sending him text messages. In some of these texts, Sandusky had asked for the victim to send him nude photographs and later asked his victim to erase all of the texts, begging the victim not to tell anyone. Sandusky’s victim instead decided to show the inappropriate messages to their father, who then turned this information over to the state police.
According to a report from CBS, Sandusky had been dating the child’s mother for at least five years and had shared a home with her. When these allegations had come to light, Sandusky was ordered to leave the home.
Reports obtained by WTAJ state that a second victim had also claimed that Jeffrey Sandusky had asked her for oral sex in 2013. Sandusky has since been prohibited from having any contact with minors as he awaits trial on these serious charges. His preliminary hearing is set for February 22, 2017.
