If you’re trying to evade the law then a good rule of thumb should be to avoid posting on social media. Fortunately for police, not all fugitives are criminal masterminds and often forget that police have the internet too.

Snapchat would be what led police to the location of 19-year-old Kimberly Dolan. Authorities say that in May of 2017, Dolan had struck a woman in the face multiple times, causing her nose to break, after the woman had gotten into a car accident with Dolan’s grandfather. Dolan had fled the scene before police were able to arrive.

It wasn’t the first time Dolan had been involved in a violent confrontation, CBS Pittsburgh reports. In January of 2016, Dolan had been charged with striking a person and running over a second person at a Pittsburgh gas station. Dolan later confessed to police about the incident.

An arrest warrant had been issued for Dolan on May 25, 2017. It wouldn’t take long for the police to locate their suspect.

On June 8, 2017, police were able to locate Dolan after viewing her Snapchat account. According to police, Dolan began posting photos of herself and her child at the Kennywood amusement park at approximately 4:20 p.m. Police were able to track down Dolan in the park and placed her under arrest without incident.

Officially, Dolan has been charged with aggravated assault, harassment, and disorderly conduct. She is currently awaiting arraignment in the Allegheny County Jail.
