“I wanted to send you a thank you because without POF I would have never met the love of my life.” Kiana & Zachary #pofsuccess. PlentyOfFish, a popular dating site some may recognize from the controversial Lady Gaga “Telephone” video, is one of the largest dating sites in the world.

The site prides itself whenever a couple shares their happiness over social media, or #pofsuccess, as the company brands it. For Adam Hilarie, 27, his date through the site would act as a precursor to his killing by the hands of career criminals.

Hilarie is a young, good-looking, charming father of one. “He really loved his daughter,” shared brother Johnny Jackson. “That was his world.” Having recently broke up with his last girlfriend, Hilarie likely had only been a PlentyOfFish user for less than two months.

At some point, he came into contact with another user, Hailey Rose Bustos, 18. Hitting it off via the site, the two decided to meet. Hilarie picked Bustos up and they went bowling at Cypress Lanes in Winter Haven, FL.

Later, the two made their way back to his place, where they chatted and hung out with his roommate. They decided to call it a night and Hilarie dropped Bustos back off at her place. She sent him a text afterward telling him that she’d had a good time, that she wanted to see him again. Maybe the following night?

Hilarie agreed. And that’s when Bustos gave three men a call. Including two career criminals.

The following night, Bustos and the three men, Andre Maurice Warner, 26, Gary Terrell Gray, 31, Joshua Ellington, 26, arrived at Hilarie’s home. When he responded to the knock on the door, the three men overpowered him and rushed the residence.

According to arrest reports, “Hilarie was begging for his life, he was not putting up any kind of fight, and was telling them that he had a 5-year-old daughter.” Hilarie was shot in the head and killed.

While Hilarie lay on the floor in a pool of blood, the foursome looted the home. They stole Hilarie’s Xbox, iPhone, television, and other valuables that Bustos has spotted the night before while she was “casing the joint.”

Police were able to get a break in the case after Bustos was picked up in a separate burglary and identified by a witness who had seen Hilarie with the young woman. She was apparently paid $50 to arrange the robbery.
