A Queens Uber driver has been arrested after his passenger claims that he raped her.

On the night of August 16, 2017, Gothamist reports that an East Village woman called for a ride after a night of heavy drinking. When she awoke the following morning she found herself in the Uber driver’s bed. When confronted, the driver, 47-year-old Keong Kar Liao, told the woman that she was at his apartment in Queens. When she came to the realization that she had sex with Liao he told her, “I used protection, please don’t tell the police.”

Liao agreed to give the woman a ride back to her home after being confronted about his conduct the previous night. Instead, the woman fled the apartment and flagged down police nearby. She was taken to Bellevue Hospital for examination.

The New York Special Victims Unit has since stepped in to investigate the case. Police say that the woman was too drunk to consent to sex with the Uber driver.

Liao is currently being charged with rape, sex abuse, and criminal sex act.

“What has been reported is deeply concerning,” a spokesperson for Uber later said in a statement to Patch. “This driver has been banned from using Uber.”

This news comes as another Uber driver, Suleiman Abdirizak, is currently on trial for the attempted rape of a drunk East London woman when she passed out in the backseat of his car. The woman claims Abdirizak already had his penis out when he opened the back door to begin having non-consensual sex with her. In a moment of quick thinking, the intoxicated woman told the Abdirizak that she was HIV positive. Abdirizak stopped attacking the woman and began squirting water in his mouth and on his genitals, believing he had caught the virus.
