What had begun as a conversation about vampires left an unidentified Springfield, Missouri man suffering from near-fatal stab wounds.

Ky3 reports that on the afternoon of November 23, 2016, police were called to a residence by a woman crying and claiming that someone had been stabbed. When police arrived at the scene, a bleeding man had answered the door and refused to allow officers to enter the home, slamming the door in their faces. When officers were allowed into the home a man and a woman identified as Victoria Vanatter were found covered in blood. On the living room wall, officers observed the words “I’m sorry,” along with a heart had been drawn in blood after Vanatter had stabbed the man.

According to The Springfield News Leader, Vanatter said that she had allowed her boyfriend cut her arm and drink her blood in the kitchen of the Springfield home. Afterwards, the couple began to argue. Vanatter said there had been slapping and yelling before she had produced the knife and stabbed her boyfriend several times, including in the lung.

Vanatter and her boyfriend were taken to a local hospital and treated for their wounds. Vanatter allegedly told police during her statement that she is possibly a danger to society and it is likely that she could become a serial killer in the future. According to court documents, Vanatter had been on probation for two other assault incidents at the time of the stabbing.

According to reports, the man has remained uncooperative in the investigation and has insisted that his wounds had been completely self-inflicted. Vanatter has been charged with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action.
